Announcing RUser 3.0
One of the things I wanted to get back to this year is open-source software, I haven’t contributed to some of my projects in over a year. I…
want to continue to simplify software, not just for myself, but for other developers. You shouldn’t have to read a 70 page document to get started with a library. The first project I’m updating is RUser.
¶
RUser is a simple RubyGem to communicate with the RandomUser API. I last updated it in 2014 and since then it’s sat around while the API it wraps evolved. Since it’s last update RUser has been using version 0.4.1

Paper Goals
I used to keep my daily todo lists in an app or service; I used Things.app, Well, Basecamp, Notes.app, Talllly, Remember The Milk, and…
various other apps and services that I can no longer remember. Here’s the thing, I never stick with them with the exception of Well; that little app was awesome and had the benefit of public and private lists with public one’s allowing comments.
¶
This year I decided to start writing my daily todo list in a notebook, it allows me to quickly mark things off and add notes. If something doesn’t get completed one day, I just rewrite it for the next and that’s worked so far.

Goals not Resolutions
I’m not making resolutions this year, I’m just going with goals. Goals are easier to achieve and even if I don’t reach them 100% of the way…
at least I can make progress towards reaching them. So in 2016 I want to:
¶
Read 3 books per month. I have 10 books on my Kindle currently to read, I’ve added books to my Amazon wish list so I can buy them throughout the year easily, and I have a few that I bought in the past but haven’t read yet, so they’ll be next.
¶
Do better work, not work that is better in quality because that makes it seem like I don’t give every project my best.
